What is a relaxation massage?
A relaxation massage uses long, flowing strokes at a pressure most people find comfortable. It is not about digging into problem spots. It is about slowing your breathing down and letting your shoulders drop.
It suits a first massage, a stressful week, or anyone who finds firm pressure too much. If you want it lighter or a little firmer, say so at the start.
Who books a relaxation massage?
- Stress, poor sleep or a long week
- A first massage, if you are not sure what pressure you like

Relaxation massage questions
Is it OK to fall asleep?
Yes. Plenty of people drift off during a relaxation massage. That is a sign it is doing its job.
Will a relaxation massage fix a sore back?
It can ease general tightness, but it is not aimed at stubborn knots. If one spot is the problem, ask about deep tissue or a back, neck and shoulder massage instead.
